The story synopsis..

Earth is in an era where it is facing global warming level 3. Four SPETS, humans from another planet, come down to Earth to help the humans to survive the global warming and its catastrophes. However, the humans believe that they are a danger to them instead. Thus, two rangers from the special force, John and Freddy, are assigned to capture the SPETS. Little do they know that they will meet some mishaps during their mission. One by one, the SPETS will sacrifice themselves to protect the lives of the two rangers.

The SPETS origins..

SPETS stands for Supreme Protocol for Earth Territorial Survival. It is a full 3D-animated film. From the combination of the two creative people, Mr Isaac and Mr Ahmad, story idea of SPETS was created.

The SPETS Production..

The original script and storyboard were done by Mr Ahmad and Mr Isaac. We went on to refine the script and storyboard. With the two directors’ help, we then began our journey in making SPETS come alive!

Hand-in-hand, we did the concept art of the characters, props and sets. When all were finalized, we proceed on to create the 2D animatics of SPETS. There we confirmed on the shots and the duration of the film. We made sure that the shots were interesting enough to grab audience’s attention.

We continued on to model the 3D characters. Every feature of the 3D models was carefully done. We also did the paintweighting and texturing. The sets and props were modeled, textured and lighted up too. At that moment, the whole story seemed to come alive.

3D block animation of SPETS was the next one that we did. It was the first time we animated the 3D characters. We added life into them. At the same time, we refined the duration and shots of the film, making it more dynamic and exciting to view.

We then started refining the animation to give each and every characters their own unique personalities. It was the most tedious yet fulfilling part of the production.

When the animation had been confirmed, we proceed on with the compositing of the film, adding special effects and audio into it. After a year, SPETS is successfully produced!=)

The 3D artists’ evaluation..

We felt that the whole process was meaningful and fruitful. Being able to collaborate with Mr Ahmad and Mr Isaac was a great opportunity for us. We learnt a lot through this experience. We learnt that teamwork is a very important factor. Being able to compromise with one another is essential for the work to be a success.

After doing this project, we also think that we were stronger than we thought we were. With small amount of manpower, we were still able to handle the amount of work and adhere to the deadlines.

Overall, the whole experience nourishes us with important values that will be beneficial for us in the future working industry.
